This brute is hand forged, I recycled from a tractor bush hog blade, spectroscopy tested as 5150 steel.
One piece thru the handle, a" 1853" silver 50 cent piece I peened on to hold the butt cap in place. The twisted guard and butt cap are forged wrought iron old wagon wheel. The handle is Idaho elk leg bone with a piece of northwest yew wood inlet where the tendon ran along the bone, pitch glue holds it in place and makes for a really nice grip for a larger hand.... I never know what to name these things, any suggestions ?
- Over all length is 14.5 inches, blade is 1/4 thick and 9.5 inches long.
- A two piece sheath. The outer piece is 10-12 oz. weight leather wet formed and is made to carry on the right front hip. The inner sheath is leather inlayed with prairie rattlesnake hide.
